Yes, the aspen trees have peaked in color here, in East Idaho.

Brisbane area Max 28

Sunny day. High (70%) chance of showers in the evening. The chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Winds north to northeasterly 25 to 35 km/h.

trees are in bloom...jacaranda, bottle brush. lorikeets eat the flowers in the day and flying foxes eat them at night. they also poo on the walls of my house. i guess i have to put up a sign.

It's your turn for spring in the southern hemisphere. I wish Idaho were heading into springtime, instead of fall. I love summer, and hate winter.

If I were made of money, I'd spend April 15th through October 15th in the US and October 16th through April 14th in Oz.

I can't stand being stuck inside all winter. Oz would be nice but out of my price range so I head to Arizona for the winter in my little truck camper with motorcycles in tow. Free camping, sunshine, and good riding almost every day. Cheaper and much more fun than staying home in freeze dried Central Oregon.

If you're successful with that, please let us know.

So you have got poo on your walls from fruit bats. I have holes in my walls from woodpeckers.* At least you can wash your walls.

*freaking federally protected peckers.

You are having problems with the woodpeckers in Illiniois? I know 2LZ was having problems with the woodpeckers in California, but I didn't know you were plagued with this problem in the Midwest.

That's nasty.

Perhaps you can apply the 'S cubed' method employed by western ranchers when dealing with wolves preying upon their livestock.

S Cubed = Shoot, Shovel, and Shut Up.

Hmmm. I feel that firing off the Ruger M77 in my neighborhood would be frowned upon. Felony type frowned upon.

Slingshot, on the other hand............. Though their favorite side of the house sports a lot of glass. Must practice first.

S-Cubed. Probably works with nuisance dogs too.

A pellet gun would be much quieter, and quite effective.

i m sure woodpeckers can be annoying! isn t there a deterrent for that sort of thing? or are they finding insects under you weatherboards?
i agree, my sign may not be the most powerful, but it s only a bat. here all wildlife is protected, so you gotta find a way around them. one of the features of the warm climate: the more or less harmless treesnakes come into the houses, live behind the blinds, where you find their shedded skins. they eat the geckos. the geckos eat the cockroaches. birds eventually may get the snake.
i have no idea how they get in.
never mind, but the fun stops when the woman of the house finds out and doesn t want to sleep in the same room where a (non poisonous) snake has been spotted.
