Well, it finally happened....

Yep, Friday was an unauspicious day for me. I laid over my 200gy. I was taking an alleyway and a retard screams in from the street like he was in a rally race. SO it was either low-side and dump it or get run down...I chose the former. I can almost bet the f*#^er didn't have insurance, because he didn't stop, he actually sped up after he saw what happened. If I had realized the kill switch was off and got the bike started I'd have chased the loser down, but by the time I got the bike up and discovered the switch was off he was long gone...couldn't even get a plate number. So a good amount of road rash on my right knee and forearm..that'll heal, what irks me is the bike. I now need a new front fender, side cover and grips. I bent the bars back into place and re-aligned the forks. A little black paint took care of the foot brake (which saved the case by the way) along with a snap-on pry bar to bend it back into place. THe plactic is simply scuffed, not broken, but I always keep my bike looking it's best, so I really need to find a red 2006 GY-2 right side cover. THe fender I've found. The grips are easy, local MX shop. Anyway, I'm pretty upset, given the care I put into keeping this in pristine order. I'm lucky I didn't bust the tank cover. I'm lucky to come out with only superficial injuries as well. I guess it's God's way of telling me that he's watching out for me, but that I'm not invincible.

ouch -- I guess welcome to the club... unfortunate for sure, but thankful you're still here telling us the story.

I understand being upset over the bike, but 10 years from now you'll probably realize how unimportant the appearance of a bike is in the grand scheme of life.

Ride on.

I broke my left cover, but I am sure the right will get its turn. I am sure that you can get a new one.

Well thank yo uI appreciate your concern. The road rash is healing quite well, but i heal quickly anyway. Since the plastic is painted, I was able to buff out some of the scuffs with Meguiar's, but there are some really deep gouges as well. It was really rough asphalt. From 10 feet away you can't tell unless you know where to look. Even so, I take pride in what I have and those gouges are an embarrasment, for me anyway. What I'll probably do is buy the side cover and store it, then get some plastic body putty (like is used on urethane panels), and wet sand it then match the paint as close as I can. That way it still looks good but I'm not ruining new plastic if something like this happens again.
