Ural dealer in Spokane

I went to visit a lady friend in Spokane over the weekend. Sunday after church we went to check out the local Ural dealer. These are fun machines to examine up close. They also had some Husqvarnas, Ducatis, and some cool antiques like Bultacos, Nortons, and BSA's.

What kind of money were they asking for the Ural?

It was a new 2013, IIRC. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,500 but I don't remember. From what I gather, there were some very significant improvements in the 2014 model year (especially as it applies to safety and steering) and those are the ones to have.

With that said, this was a super neat machine and I would have loved to have ridden it if I had my gear. Alas, I was in Tonto The Truck (visible in the background) so I had to pass.

I also would have loved to have ridden the ATK's, Ducatis, and Husqvarnas they had in there!

Yes a lot of changes for the 2014 Ural's including fuel injection, the Salem dealer says that Ural has been testing the fuel injection for the last three years. I like the Gear-Up but the '14's list for $16,000+ freight and setup,...almost 17k. More disconcerting for me is that when I was at the dealer there were two almost new Gear-Up's in the shop, one had a rear end problem, the other one had the jugs off. That said, I know riders that have had no problem at all, most are old BMW airhead riders and maintain their own motorcycles. Another rider I know has a new Gear-Up on order, he says he will ride it up to Sisters in June, I'm looking forward to that

Not a good sign to see two examples of a brand new very, very, very, low volume bike in the same shop at the same time for different but obviously serious problems...

Too small a sample size to make a conclusion but does not look like good news...

I had a better sense of humor about the Ural's when the motorcycle versions were selling new for $5,000.

That looks bad. I obviously did not read the 100+ page thread but the opening salvo appears calmly and intelligently written and well documented and objective.

I thought the same thing. At the price for a good deal on a good CB a guy can laugh it off, but not at $16,000+.

I'd still consider a Ural, just not at sixteen gees. Just like a CB, if you know what you a getting yourself into, it's part of the charm.Heck, I drove a 52 Ford F2 for 10 years.

I passed up a 2000kms 1993 rig for $2000, last year and still have self-inflicted boot prints from walking away from it. I didn't need another project at the time.

No. They were real deal USA ATKs. A genuine flat tracker and a dual sport. Both used of course.
