KTM 200 Duke

On my endless search for a robust and powerful 200cc four stroke powerplant for my next sidecar project I discovered the KTM 200 Duke. A bike produced for the indian market by KTM in conjunction with Bajaj who apparently own a great big chunk of KTM these days.

Bajaj also make a bike with a similar power plant that would do the job too, the NS200 Pulsar.

I've looked and looked but cant find any of these machines being broken here in the uk although I have found a few complete bikes being sold that must have made it over here. Not sure how I would go about finding a good engine from india and get it back here without being open to being ripped off.

So just wondering if any of these bikes have been spotted over the pond by anyone?

Since I live in Idaho, I can't help you with your quest for this engine. However, I can wish you good luck, and bump your thread for you.

Thanks, sorry thats what I meant (US, Canada, anywhere) I'd be interested to hear from anyone 'anywhere' who's seen any of these. Just trying to work out if they have escaped india in large numbers

Thanks for the clarification. I will certainly notify you if I find one of these engines. When you said 'over the pond,' I thought you were talking about your side of the 'pond.'

Haven't seen one in person, but I'd love to take one for a rip.

I bet that bike has one of the best fun/$ quotients of any new motorcycle. Or any toy in general for that matter.

I've seen a couple of those here in Sofia, but don't know if they were 125s or 200, as they appear identical on the outside AFAIK. The local KTM dealer sells both 200 and 390 models (new). 200 is about 3400 GBP (inc. VAT). 390 is ~4000 BGP.

If you're not scared of Cyrillic alphabet, take a peak here:

I'm pretty certain you can order a whole engine (as a spare part) from that dealer too. If you opt for that, be aware that there are many shipment companies that can transport it for you to UK (usually somewhere in London) for about 1GBP per kilo of weight. At least this the fare when shipping from UK to Bulgaria.

Thanks for that. I will do some research
