Oil Change Interval

I have noticed that many of you change your oil at intervals ranging from 250 to 1000 KM's. My owners manual says to change the oil at 2000 KM's. The owners manual recommendation seems reasonable since we have no oil filter (only a screen).

Changing at less than 2000 KM's seems a little excessive to me, even though it is only one litre.

Am I missing something?

I am definetly not an expert, but since it is only a litre, and as you mentioned there is no filter, I figured the more often I changed it the better... The only down side I could see would be enviromentaly (wasting oil), but I save gas by riding a 200cc bike as opposed to a 3/4ton pickup or some crazy big suv...

I'm a bit of a rebel here as I change the oil every 2000km as the manufacturer requires. With modern quality oils I dare say you could stretch it further, but as it's only a litre 2000km does me. "We" do have an oil filter, there's a centrifugal one on the end of the crank (clean it out about every 30,000km).

Jonathan.

I plan to change it every 500-1000 miles depending on when I have time. I don't waste it as I dump the used stuff into my mercedes diesel which burns and leaks it. Uses the same rotella T 15w40.

The oil is a cheap preventative maintenance item.

I change oil and clean oil filter way more than I need to. It's like doing something nice for the one you love. The word is out to my neighbors that I'm a really good house painter. I always have half cansof paint, oil, and other stuff I take to the hazardous materials recycling site. Free to drop off, 10 min away.

The Qingqi QM200GY has a paper type cartridge oilfilter. Same filter fits my Suzuki Ozark also. The manual specifies oil change every 6000 km:s
(I change more often)
