New Member About To Purchase a Skyteam V-Retro/V-Raptor

Hi all,

My name is Stellio, I'm living in Sydney and currently riding a Buell XB12Ss.

I'm wanting a little bike to run around town and something to mod and think I'm sold on the Skyteam V-Retro as there called in Australia.

I've done a little searching on google and haven't heard anything bad about them, not really much about them at all to be honest.

So before I make the purchase I thought I'd join up for any feedback on my choice.

Thanks, Stellio.

Welcome; we are glad you joined us.

Several members of these forums own the Skyteam V-Retro/V-Raptor, including Overlander and TrailbikeRyder. I believe these owners are pleased with their motorcycles, but I will let them speak for themselves.

That Buell is BRUTAL! I have always had an eye for Buell's, even before HD ownership.

The Skyteam would be a good around-town bike, and will be relaible enough, but it's important you have a asic toolkit and are not afraid to use it.

When you buy a CB, at least here in the States, you are a bit of an orphan for dealer support, parts, maintennece. We can help you out though.

Welcome!

If that's the Skyteam I'm thinking of, it's a sweet looking little bike with a 230cc pushrod motor (my personal favourite China motor). The bike is based on a Suzuki VanVan, which I think was only available as a 125.

Stellio78, Krasi_BG is one of the European owners I mentioned on mychinamoto who has this bike. He would be the best gauge to ownership.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Also for future reference for Skyteam owners there are some frame & engine parts lists available here http://ikonikmoto.com.au/demo/index....in_page=page_2 and this looks like my local supply of Skyteam parts also

Don't know, but one of these days I'll just stuck any open muffler I can find (read, "cheap") to it and gladly get rid of all the eco tubes, valves, etc. mumbo-jumbo.

I'm hoping it will run alright just throwing on a slip on but if I decide to eliminate the standard air box and fit a pod filter I'd say I'm gonna be running lean.

Have you looked into re-jetting or fitting a different carby yet Krasi?

Any links would be great.

I can answer that much. The bike likely comes with a Keihin clone carb, but I've had difficulty in obtaining jets for them. My choice for any Honda-based China motor is a 30mm Mikuni like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/30MM-MIKUNI-...bf060c&vxp=mtr

A pod filter and a free flowing exhaust would likely need a 112 or 115 main, along with a 30 slow jet, depending on you elevation.

Jets are "weird" and I still haven't bothered checking which standard ones will fit. I've only moved the needle up one notch. Air filter box is not that restrictive, so I'd say that until you replace the exhaust there is not much point in rejeting. Still, I haven't bothered looking at the details there (yet).

Bike has arrived, is assembled and should be taking it on my first decent road ride on Wednesday after I complete the registration.

First mod will be the muffler and exhaust wrap, I noticed this behind the small exhaust shield. I'm guessing this is a catalytic converter? Worth removing?

Don't know whats in there, but I have my eye on the valve and vacuum hose above it - the one that is attached to the cylinder head.
