Zongshen 200GY-2: 60,000 Milestone!
Earlier this month my Zong's odometer recorded 60,000 miles while riding around town. The weather in October has been wonderful, and the mountain trails are still free from snow. Therefore, I recently rode my Zong above 9,000 feet to a local mountaintop.
The weather was clear, so I could view the Grand Teton Mountains of Wyoming over the Blackfoot Reservoir. The Grand Tetons are 107 aerial miles distant from this mountaintop. Looking over the valley, the other snow covered mountains on the horizon were also across the border in Wyoming. Descending the mountain on an ATV trail, I stopped to look back at the summit I had just departed. On the way home I stopped to stretch, and noticed a nice, old, Ford pickup truck. I recently replaced the outer clutch basket in my bike with a Zongshen part I purchased from Taobao. With over 60,000 miles on the odometer, the clutch feels great, and my Zong is still running strong.

Wonderful news Spud. I'm sure this is a record of some sort, for trail bikes in general not just Chinese ones.
Beautiful place where you live, and we are being blessed with a beautiful October. What did you know about Zongs before you bought yours? What mileage are you up to on your other bikes?

Looks like another great day for a ride in Spudland. It's surreal to see the Zong in pics, having had some saddle time myself.

I have also ridden my Zong into Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada. Weldangrind recently rode my Zong from Idaho to Nevada.

Indeed, you have over 500 miles of saddle time on my Zong. FastDoc might be approaching 1,000 miles of Zong saddle time.

Bill, you need to "break down" and trailer your KLX250S over here to Idaho. Better yet, bring Brother Roger with you. You are missing out on some spectacular, Idaho single track. I took these photographs yesterday.

I have to show Roger those pics and guilt him into riding.
Last time I got him to ride with me was last winter. I have asked him to do things and we have planned several rides/trips and he has been able to do nothing. He's got a wife, 2 kids, etc. I respect it but it sucks ;-(

For all the riding I have done your tours of the Intermountain West have been the best dualsporting ever, anywhere, and I am grateful.

Same here! Spud's guided tour from Spudland to Bonneville was one of my best trips ever.

I put on 150 miles per week, and your bike's mileage makes me strive to keep mine going indefinitely, although I doubt it will last 8 more years to reach 60k lol. I pretty much only commute, although the few Chinabike-Arizona Chinariders contingent has influenced me to try a meetup somewhere in AZ. Another potential trip this March is to see parts of the Baja 250 since it is in San Felipe, which is relatively close to Yuma (anyone up for that?)

60,000 miles, that's about 96,000 km's! Heck, my wing's only got about 127,000 km's and I thought it was high mileage!
Testament to good maintenance and useful mods! I raise my cup to another 60,000 miles for your trusty Zong Spud! |

Thank you, Stew.
Keep trying, Culcune. Eight years can pass more quickly than you might think.
