aftermarket headlights install

got a set of 9 led daytime driving lights from china to replace the stock ones on the 150 utility as they each draw 18w each and drain the battery but the new led's only 9w each so this should take the strain off.

here is the old set up in the body

you can see that the new ones are a tad smaller than the old lenses

brilliant idea!!

dig out dremel and bit and go to town on lenses.

carve out just enough to insert the new light into the old lense

both new lights set up and ready for the next step....

allot of hot glue for plastic.

after the hot glue has set and has cooled next step it to use gorilla glue to re-attach the lens to the base of the original pot (which is also the mounting bracket)

both done now and left to set up over night then install tomorrow

we used my 18v drill battery last night and hooked up both lights to it and turned out the lights ...wow are these ever bright ...can't wait to try them out tomorrow night.

Excellent engineering. 8)

I'm surprised they draw even 9 watts each. I thought LED's were close to nothing...

The 18 volts won't hurt them if they're made for 12?

bad description on my part lol

they will use half the voltage the stock lights used

edit: I do not believe that the test using the 18 v battery would hurt them.

Clever install. I still wouldn't turn them on until necessary, but they'll certainly draw less than the incandescent bulbs. Are you gonna use the stock switch and wiring?

well gona install them in the atv today and then do load tests (wile it is running) no not going to use the stock wiring and switch....the stock switch can be turned on accidently and you don't know that they are on till it is too late. so going to install one lighted rocker switch on each light so that they can be run independently and with the lighted switches you will know they are on

Those look great. Looks like the charging system is happy too.

I need some rectangular lights for my new tractor.

I saw Midlife and his wife at the Mission Parade and I can tell you those lights are bright.

Plus his quad started, cough can't say that for the Grizz at that time. Its running great now but had to do some carb work.

Midlife amazes me at all he can do and how well he does it all.

HE IS A TRUE MAN'S MAN!!! My hat is off to you Midlife!
