Gio Beast Replacement Rear Shocks
Does anyone know of any replacement shocks for the rear on the Beast.
Been looking and can't find the right measurements. Does anyone know of any of the big three Japanese brands that use the same size shocks?

Would the rear shock off a raptor work?

I've never investigated that. Perhaps you could start with some measurements, and then ask eBay sellers to measure shocks for comparison.

From what I have gathered they are around 15 plus inches vs the gio "performance" shocks rear of 12.5 inches.
Would have to relocate the bottom mount on the swing arm. Doable but would be nice to find something in the 12.5 to 13 inch range but decent instead. Not having a ton of luck in that department.

Working on taking a Gio "performance" front apart now. The one that came unscrewed from the piston assembly. Finally got the tube seperated from the top, had to use a little heat and a pipe wrench to do it. Next is the resevoir.

Well looks like Gio figured out how to deal with the leaking bladder issue.
THERE IS NONE They have completely taken the bladder out and replaced the end cap of the res with a 2 o ring plug wow. By the looks of things the whole res is now for holding nitrogen and the little white plug (shown below) just floats up and down inside the main cylinder and adjusts the amount of internal volume of the main body. Two issues I see with this setup: 1 If you lose pressure and bottom a shock the white diaphram in the main cylinder will be forced up too high and you will loose oil to the otherwise empty res. ( I can only assume the res is empty and the shock seperated and the oil from in there may have been dumped, although it did look pretty clean and oil free when I opened it. 2 If varying the volume of the cylinder is meant to change the dampening then what are the holes in the piston doing. Seems to me the oil will travel at the same rate through the holes no matter what size or pressure the main cylinder has. Either way I see these things as poorly designed and manufatured pieces of junk and a total rip off at anything higher in price than free.

Anyone ? someone must have tried to research this in the past and has an idea of what atv rear shock would be compatible. All I seem to find is the same old Chinese junk or skidoo front shocks in a 13 inch eye to eye configuration.
Lots of rear shocks out there but they do not indicate the length just the applications and very hard to come up with model specific shock sizes.

I have a performance shock in a box, waiting for when I need it, but I'm still using the stock non-reservoir shock from 2008.

Wound up going with a set of used but freshly rebuilt (0 miles) fox front shocks 13 inch eye to eye for a Arctic cat snowmobile for the fronts.
For the rear I got an old style fox 13.25 inch eye to eye snowmobile shock but brand new. I may have to use a stiffer spring in it though, time will tell. I am pretty sure I will need to swap out the bushings but am starting to build up quite a pile of them from these Gio shocks.
