This one's gotta be stolen.
2008 KLR for $1,000? I don't think so.
Pic looks like it was taken inside a cheezy motel room. http://yakima.craigslist.org/mcy/3114886891.html Gonna flag it.

That does seem kind of suspicious... The same bike is running 4K and up here.

Same here.
I flagged it and I see it was removed. In retrospect I think the smart thing to do would be to call the Yakima police. In fact I may still do that...

I called the police.
Turns out someone is looking for a stolen 2008 blue KLR650. I'm sure it's found now. BTW, IMHO, CL is a good place to look for stolen bikes... I've heard of more than a few people over the years who recovered their bikes by finding them for sale on CL.

Thanks for doing the right thing, and notifying the police, Doc.

Here's the follow-up. It's not stolen. Just misrepresented.
It's wrecked and presumably totalled. The owner hit a curb with it and crashed some time ago.

More detail.
Bike had 3,000 miles in it. Was a 2008 in 2008. Guy hit a curb and crashed. He was pretty injured. Two broken ankles in addition to other injuries. In the hospital for 3 weeks and a nursing home for 8 weeks after that. The bike was put inside his apartment and has sat there ever since. It's understandable he has not wanted to fix it... :? It's paid for, no lein, he has the title. It was maintained by the dealership and he has receipts. Used as an on road commuter only and had the oil changed every 1,500 miles. :P It needs, at a minimum, handlebars, instruments, 2 fairing panels, windshield, and a battery. The tank is dented. :( As I see it this adds up to less than $1,000 and a few hours on eBay and a few hours with a wrench. I think I may have found my next project. It may be a 2008 KLR with low mileage for $2,000.

This would be tough to not at least look at. The only downside is Yakima is an hour and a half away.

It would take a lot of wrenching and about 2 trips to fly it home though!

I'm gonna pass on it.
I just don't think I have a niche that it will fill. BUT I passed the deal onto my buddy Andy (the motorcycle shop owner). He's gonna drive out tonight to get it.

At least it will be in the family.
