It's your basic generic China 2 piston. They do work amazingly well though. Probably because the lack of inertia to disperse due to the light bike weight. Heck, if it had a 4 piston, it would probably send me over the bars. ;-)
Funny thing is, compared to the bikes we used to ride when we were younger, these CB's are almost state-of-the-art nowadays.

Thats just what I thought when I decided it was time to get a CB. These CB's have stuff I could only dream about when I use to ride my old 1980's Yamaha 250 enduro.

I had a 1979 DT 250 and, if nothing else, it did not have an electric start.

It was what we called an enduro back then or what we call a dual sport now so I think it was the DT.

The DT was a 2 stroke and the XT was a 4 stroke. I think they did or still do make the XT 250.

Then it was the XT as mine was a 4 stroke. Looked like the pic. Clean lines with NO plastic panels.

Rambo was so tough that he could turn an XT 250 into a 2 stroke just twisting the throttle really hard. The first generation of those bikes put out 22HP but was reduced in the mid 80's.

We used to have a motocross outside of town when I was a kid. Thy had a class called Enduro that was an open class. The dual purpose bikes would ride to the track with a gas can strapped to the back or their bikes and the enduro racers used a trailer or pickup. It's where I fell in love with thumpers.
The class had Kawasaki KE's and KDX's, Yamaha DT's and IT's, Suzuki PE's and DR's and of course the Honda XL and XR. The Suzuki DR 500 won most of the time on that mostly natural track. a friend of mine rode a 1981 XR 200R and finished in the top 10 most of the time and is the reason my first real street legal bike was a 1981 Honda XL185S. The sound of the 4 stroke engine hardly working and still throwing a roost is the also the reason why I chose the Hawk as cheap way to get back into motorcycles. You don't need a lot of power to have fun but you have to understand it's limits.

Anyway, enough memory lane, but I do remember the power of the little 250--and this was the time Suzuki had the exact same bike in 350cc form!?

That XT250 reminds me of my beloved Childhood bike. I had a Yamaha MX100 Enduro. Loved that little 2 Stroke machine. I rode that thing everyday, all over these two counties. I also leaned how to do a top end job on a 2 stroke with that bike, after I burned a hole in the piston (why it happened I have no idea). I would love to have one like it back and that XT to go with it. I LOVE old Japanese bikes (I've brought quite a few back from the dead) and old Japanese 2 stroke street bikes even more.
