Our OHC engines require 95 or above according to the manual, which is about 90 or 91 US octane rating. Check one more for higher octane = slower burn.

Wow!

I sparked of such a debate.

I just posted my experiance and what the local shop here recomends.

I do have a diferent bike from the majority here and I think I just managed to do all the wrong things at the same time.

1 I ran the bike at wide open throtle far an extended period.
2 Ran it at wide open throtle on a hot day
3 Ran it lean, I had just put in a free flowing filter the week before and planed on adjusting carb after checking the plug.
4 ran premium fuel with a lean condition.

If your bike is performing well and you are happy don't change anything because of anything I say. Just enjoy it.

That explains allot. I think these bikes are VERY sensitive to changes in air flow. A different filter definately could have leaned it out to the point of eventual failure.

I can only say that 3 could be the issue. Because I've done 1 and 2 many times with no problems and I run 87 normally but occationally run 93 when Dad makes a stop at the gas station and we both top off our tanks.

Glad you got it covered under warranty!!
