Anti-lock brakes?

I was looking at Fashby's front brake setup compared to mine

Mine:

Fashby's:

Is the doodad hanging off of his brake the anti-lock thing like the Lifan's have?

And aren't the rims purty!

Very purty, but you need to wash them...

I saw someone talking about it in another thread, and they said thats what that was... The dealer I got my bike from removed that before I got it, but he said it was just some sort of reserve... I don't know... things work without it.

Yes, the doodad is the "ABS" capsule. It provides an area for the brake fluid to go under extreme pressure rather than locking the front wheel.

And I'll bet some of the daft buggers believe you!!!
Don't worry about your dirty rims Pauli, it shows you ride the bike. Mine are covered in grease so I never have to clean them.

Jonathan.

How about just applying less rear brake pressure and more front brake pressure? Or am I missing something?

Darn prudy doodad. If you ride street more than dirt, or if you are new2riding I think it's a good idea. I want to be as safe as I can be. My life couldn't get much better without winning the lottery. My bike didn't come with one. If it's cheap, and it works, and I can find them, I'll get two. Once I change the rear tire of course, it's not disk yet.

I think it looks like a sparkplug for the brake engines. LOL

The rear brakes don't have a "lock up " problem, they have a "hang up" problem. The threads addressing this are to make sure the rear caliper pushrod can fully release so the rear brake wont stick on and burn up. I find the rear of my Roketa to be very forgiving and sensitive to pedal input. I agree, for a newbie, an antilock feature is probably best, but if I feel the need to lock the rear brake, I don't want some device fighting me to do so.
