front rim oval

So I put a new tube on my front rim. Now my rim is not round. It bounces as I drive down the road....what to do?

More than likely not the rim, but the tire.
Check right next to the rim bead. You'll probably see a raised line running all around the tire.
Deflate the tire and push, pull and tug until that line is equal distance from the rim all around...reinflate...ride... and repeat until you get it right.

If you think that looks good...
Raise the front tire off the ground, give it a spin and hold a screwdriver along the fork leg til it just touches the top of the rim.
You'll see a varying distance at the rim if out of round.

I'll check for any videos. You know somebody has one on YouTube.

Found one (several actually), about 5 minutes into this one, the mechanic mentions airing up the tire and checks the bead indicators on each side of the tire.

Had to do that with bicycle tires all the time and the one tire change I made on the Lifan.

I true my wheels within plus, or minus, 1/32-inch (1 mm). I would recommend you not ride on a wheel that is 1/2-inch out of round. Indeed, you might find it impossible to seat the tire bead on a wheel that far out of round.

ouch!! That will cause a good bobble.
Like Spud said, I wouldn't ride it that far out.
Unless I absolutely had to for transportation and then slowly.
I hope you can get it pulled back in shape.

How would it get 1 1/2 inches out of round? Did you hit something with it? We are talking radial here and not axial right?

No I hit nothing.it was fine then I pulled the tire off.put a new tube in.put the tire on and went for a testdrive and.bounce bounce bounce. So I took the rim off again and spun it and it wobbled up and down 1.5.

have you tried to pull the tire and tube off and give it a spin ? as said above it could be the tire it self

Here's the answer (courtesy of Spud): http://motocross.transworld.net/1000...p-tire-change/

This video changed my life. I actually enjoy changing tires now. Buy the tools that are shown in the video; totally worth it.

I usually dont have too much trouble changing tires but I did notice something different that I am going to do now. I have always taken the second side of the tire off the same side of the rim as the first side.
He took off both sides off of each side of the rim leaving the rim loose in the middle. that looks much easier. That bead holder looked like a worthwhile investment as well.

Taking the tire off both sides of the rim, and having the rim drop into the middle of the tire is the best method to employ. The tire is then very easy to remove if you have a tire changing stand. The bead buddy also makes the job much easier.

I have the same bike as the OP. I recall having an issue similar to his when I first got my bike. The front tire was not seated exactly even and it did have a very slight out of roundness to it. I changed tires and tubes and had a bit of a problem getting the front tire to seat properly.

If I recall correctly, I deflated the tire again completly and lossend the bead of the tire all around. had to go to arond 80 pounds before it got in the right spot.
