Possible CDI Issue
I have a 2008 LF200GY5. I am not getting spark and since parts are cheap I replaced the Coil, Spark Plug, CDI. the results were the same, no spark. I brought it over to a friends to day that is a tad more bike engine savvy then me. So this is what we found. From the engine the CDI is receiving 60V with the meter set on Auto for AC. From the CDI to the coil on the Black/yellow the meter reads in the mV. That dosen't seem right. We get the same readings with the original CDI and the "new" one. Any thoughts? If both CDI's are bad does anyone know of a jap made CDI that would fit the LF200GY5?

Welcome!
I have nothing useful to contribute at this time. I just wanted to welcome you. I'm hoping that one of the others with experience in this area will chime in.

Could it be the magnetic pickup, on my bike under the flywheel cover on the left side of the motor it has a magnetic pickup sensor that reads a spot on the flywheel and it sends the signal to the CDI for the ignition.

Welcome to these forums. You should be sending more voltage than mere millivolts from the CDI unit to the ignition coil. :( Check the wire leading from the CDI unit to the ignition coil for continuity, and resistance. If the wiring is good, I would suspect both CDI units are bad. I would also examine both CDI units for obvious defects, such as bulges, et cetera.

also make sure the coil is grounded properly, you also may have a bad switch which will keep the CDI grounded and not sending hardly any voltage to the coil

Thoughts
Thank you for the welcomes. I have been on here before but I guess i haven't posted in so long that it reset my posts. Or I am forgetful and never acyually posted.,, lol 8)
The coil only has 2 wires coming into it. So looking at the diagram the Green is the common ground? @Buzzkill, is your bike a LF200GY5? Or does anyone else know if the LF's have that piece Buzzkill mentions? And if the LF has one would I still get 60V if that was malfunctioning? does anyone know if you can test the CDI off the bike? Both CDI's look normal. no bulges or obvious defects. |

You can't tell much by looking at the CDI's and I don't know if they can be tested. They ALWAYS fail and cause frustrating symptoms.
Sometimes Lifanoids have damaged wires behind the countershaft sprocket cover so I'd check that. Welcome to the forum!

The magnetic pickup is there, the wire by the front sprocket that often gets damaged leads right to the pickup sensor, I would drain the oil and pull both covers off the left side and give it a good looking over.

I found a CDI that matches my Lifan 200 GY5, but unfortunatley I haven't been able to test it yet with my motor in pieces on my garage floor. The plug and pins all match up and the specs seem to match. Here's the link if you are interested.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RACIN...Q5fAccessories It was dirt cheap so I hope it's not one of those, "You get what you pay for" deals. |

Ok..
I bought another CDI from the local dealer. still nothing. knowing the workings of these motors is a tad above my tool grade. So I took the bike to the dealer to have them give it a go over. However, I am leaning towards what a few of you have said about the mag/sprocket area. the bike will not kick start and they verified no spark. I will keep ya posted.

Stator
It seems it was the stator. I saw it running today up at the dealer. They are checking the cable that runs the tach now. Since I am on my 2nd tach Lifan thinks it's the cable.
