Canadian Victoria Day in Hope

My son and I went for a ride at Nickelmine, which is near Hope, BC on May 18 (our long weekend just before the American Memorial Day weekend). Although the clouds threatened to open up on us, we only felt a couple of drops all day. The air was just cool enough to be comfortable.

We rode high enough to see some waterfalls, and a deer jumped out in front of us. We shut off our quads and took a few photos; he didn't mind us beign there at all.

The scenery in that area is stunning, and you can lose yourself in all of the trails. Highly recommended.

Our quads after some mad doughnuts.

Nice photos! Thank you for sharing, W&G.

P.S. What tires are you using on your quads, and how do you like them?

The tires are stockers, and I think they're SunL (I can check when I get home). They meet our needs just fine, but I couldn't get the rear tires on the 200 Gio Beast to seat. I decided to use tubes instead of bothering to buy new rims or tires. The tubes work just fine.

Cheers!

That is a great shot of that deer. I had the same thing happen to me on Victoria day. I was riding through some red pines and a little doe was just standing there. I stopped and we stared at each other for about 2 solid minutes. It's always such a cool feeling to have contact with such beautiful (and tasty!) creatures.

I've been looking for some good spots close to me to go trail riding and quading..

Would you say these trails are okay for novice, younger riders?

..if so, where do you go to get into these trails? I'm in Surrey so Hope is a reasonable drive to get out and home on the same day.

Thanks,
-TT

The trails at Nickelmine (Hope) are varied, and suit beginners through experts. Go to www.fvdra.com to learn about becoming a member, and then you can ride at Nickelmine. The Fraser Valley Dirt Riders Association does alot to further the sport, and they work hard at maintaining accessible riding areas for us. Once you become a member, you receive the combination for the gate lock, which allows you access to fantastic trails, a MX track and a good family camping area. You'll love it.
