help with speedo tach setup,, wiring

i have a 250cc hibird with just the speedo, i just ordered the speedo/tach combo for a gy5 , so the question is how or what do i hook the tach to? do i just splice into the cdi somewhere?

also for the gear indicator led's what do those wire to? i see a very small wite harness coming out of the gear box ,, is this prewired for this speedo/tach setup?
the wires are small and white i bieleave they have numbers 1-5 printed on them.

I don't think anyone has tryed doing that before.. I know with the Lifan CDI if you take the box off and hold it with the smaller connector up at the top look at the bottom connector, the very bottom left pin is the tach sensor wire!!

Hope this helps!

You might look at this schematic for the tach wiring.

The Lifan Dash ELSEWHERE?

I thought i might revive this post and gear it (ha) toward other china bike owners that don't have the Lifan OH-SO-THOROUGH dash :P

For example, i am to be buying the Sierra 200 and im going to look into modding the Lifan dash to work with the Sierra... (hopefully?)

Here i have two pictures of the Zong's Schematics and the Lifan's as well
they are very similar but very different when it gets to the fuel idic, gear (neutral) idic., speedo, tacho, etc. THOUGHTS AND FEET BACK ANYONE?

You would hook the meter lights the same as they are on the "Zong's", the speedo is mechanical so no electrical hookup. Adding the Tach, hook the power and ground same as the meter lights and the run a wire to the positive side of the coil. Indicators would wire the same but Lifan gauge assembly for the GY's have no low fuel light so you could add your own led light.

Since the "Zong's" has no gear switch you would only use the Light Green with red strip wire for the Neutral light.

i pretty much suspected all of that, but you think there is a way to add a gear switch to the zong trans? i haven't the slightest idea whether or not any older yamahas had digital gear indicators-- haha or whether or not i can adapt mine... Thanks a bunch, that makes things seem a bit more straight forward

I do not know, that would have to be an internal selection by the transmission.

You could use this if the Lifan selection switch could not work with your transmission.

The Hooper Imports is a Mechanical Tachometer and your engine probably does not have a mechanical output gear in it. So that gauge assembly would not work for your application.

Here is what you could use instead.

And for the indicators
