What are you guy using for cable lube?

Believe it or not, I use the same lube I used on my military rifles when I was in the Marines, its called CLP or Break Free, you can buy it at Wal Mart in the sporting goods section, its awesome stuff, but you will need to get a cable luber which clamps onto the cable and allows you to inject the lube into the sheath rather than all over it. But any kind of lube will work, stay away from WD40 it tends to gum up when it contacts other lube which maybe present in the cable. Another good lube is 3 in 1 oil which you can get any where. Graphite spray is good but hard to get into the sheath.

i used silicon spray, i just unhooked the top end and filled the end up and moved the cable till it went down the sheath, i redid this process about 46343 times till i felt it was pretty smooth and lubed up.. i would say keep on lubing till you cant take it anymore... that way you know its good to go..

and the sad thing is that i know this will have to be done at least once more this summer and probably every season afterwards.. i may have to spring for a cable lube tool.

I use the above cable lubing kit. I replaced a rather dry clutch cable on the Diamo and lubed up the clutch AND throttle cable to avoid such wear the next time. It had been getting stiff, but as in all things, I was putting off lubing it and it's an easy chore. :roll:

well the lifan cable is different, but not by much. it is longer. the part that goes into the throttle grip that is the adjuster is 10mm instead of 8mm like the roketa. i took the part that the cable screws into back to work and drilled/taped it out to the same size. then i routed the cable wrong aout 5 times and pretty sure it's still routed wrong but it's late and i'm meeting some friends up at the bike stunts. i'll post pics later.

here's some of the pics i took.

i had to drill and tap this part so that the adjuster portion of the cable would go in.

anyone have any idea where this goes? it fell out while i was taking it apart and i have no idea where it came from.

Your "unknown" part looks to be an enclosure part that fits on the inner side of where the throttle cable exits the throttle housing and turns 90deg.

thanks i put it in there this morning and adjusted the cable.
