Our vivas have 17 front 45 rear and do great. Roads here are 55 speedlimit and most people go 65 to 70 we keep up with traffic flow, no problem. Our longest trip at those speeds is about 100 miles, bikes are doing great. But I don't think if I was on the main land that I would take them on the interstate, just a bit to scary with the small bike.
Ride hard and have FUN!!!

That's LA as in Louisiana, not the city of L.A. .
I sure would like to see any sized bike go from L.A. (the city) to Florida in 14 hours.

I wouldn't take my bike on the interstate for any reason....this bike is strictly for light off roading, around town, and country road rides. Damn cross-wind will blow you off the road!

Hey now! y'all are jumping in on Deputygene and my turf here!! We've got our TransAmerica Trail ride set for May and I've been pondering on contacting the manufacturer with the details when we got back. Now you've gone and spoiled the surprise!

If you get your trip going maybe when you plan your route their could be someone in each state to feed you dinner and let you bed down. I'm here in Missouri

On that note, what have you done with your's lately? Had a chance to finish any of the mods?

i took my gy5 on a tour from panama city, panama to san vito, costa rica and back. a round trip of 1000miles. it was slow and uncomfortable. as somebody said the crosswinds really catch you and move the bike about. i wouldnt repeat the experience, i just cant handle sitting on that seat for extended periods. i think it would be more comfortable if i had a fatter arse!

I wouldn't count on it. This might be a couple of batches of bikes, but the DB-07 usually came with the 56 t rear. Double check as some members here had the 56 rear, but maybe they actually listened to the customer and the newer ones are geared as above, or they just sent over a batch or two like this, and the next buyers will get 56 t rear?

How many days did that trip take? Any problems with the bike along the way?

i used to regularly ride my 03 zx6r for 300-500 miles... the first few trips were bad, but after that my body became conditioned to it. My forearms and my lower back got really worked out from it. Not to mention my butt..

i have yet to take any kind of extended ride on the gy5, but i plan to as soon as weather warms up a bit. I think im going to ride down into virginia and take the skyline drive ride. probably like a 4 hour ride or so and then 4 back..
