I had to monkey around with the clutch adjustment for quite awhile before I was able to get it right. It is a little fussy with the clutch adjustment.

I have notice on newer bikes that the clutch wears quite a bit during breakin. The shifting/neutral deal is almost always clutch adjustment.

Someone here had once suggested replacing the clutch adjuster with one from a Jap bike. Sounds like good advice, as the ones on the China bikes are a little flimsy.

Shea,
I adjusted my clutch today and lo and behold, problem fixed, I moved the adjuster forward allowing for more of the clutch to disengage, I will post pics of what I'm talking about...

What I did was loosen nut 1 about an 1/8th of an inch and just tightened nut 2 till it was tight, also changed out the oil to Mobil 1 20W-50, no problem shifting into neutral form 1st or 2nd gear now... Also, nut 1 was loose from the factory...

Thanks a lot ambassador. My clutch engages immediately when I let off. When I say immediately, I mean within less than half an inch, the clutch starts to engage. I've always thought it wasnt fully engaging sometimes, and now especially when the motor warms up. Right now, when the bike gets warm, I cant shift from one gear to the next while it is stopped. Next on agenda: ADJUST THE CLUTCH. Thanks again budd!

Suave, I used Mobil 1 V-twin 20W-50 4 cycle for motorcycles, $8.23 a quart at wally world, I also got the paint there and that was the only place I could find the Fusion in Flat Black...

Ambassador,
You are the man for posting that picture. I just waited until it was to late. These last couple of weeks I noticed my shifting was getting tighter and tighter the more the bike warmed up. Well, it got to the point to where the bike got hot, and when the clutch was pulled all the way back, it still was trying to go forward as if it were at the point of engaging. Today, I was ALMOST home, and the bike died on me because I was braking it (while stopped) , but the clutch was engaging (with the clutch pulled all the way back) and the bike was wanting to go forward, and eventually died. I couldnt shift it into neutral and crank it. I kick start every day because I've been too lazy to buy a new battery, so can you imagine trying to kick start a bike that wont go into neutral and the clutch wont engage. It just jumped forward every single time I kicked it. So, in the middle of traffic, I had to literally drag the bike to the side of the road into a church parking lot. The reason I say drag is, I couldnt clutch it for the back tire to spin, so I just had to manhandle that dang thing across another lane of traffic. Yes, it was extremely fun :? I called my wife to bring my tools to me, because what I needed wasnt in my tool box on the bike. Thanks to your picture you posted, I remembered exactly what to do. I just had to be careful not to hit the engine or the HOT exhaust pipe. Low and behold, I did what you said, and now I feel like I am riding a new bike. The clutch and shifting are freakin awesome! Shifts so silky and smooth like a babies ass! I luv it! Thanks buddy!

Hey Shea,
Glad I could help and sorry to hear you had to go through all that, my girl would be laughing at me... What I did was I got off my bike while it was running, put it in 1st with the clutch in and it started to pull forward a little without weight on it, that's when I realized it needed adjusting... I like to be able to shift into neutral now, life is good for all now...

Around 3500-3800 km's or so. I could tell it was starting to get extremely stiff, and wouldnt go into neutral when sitting still after the bike got hot at around 4000kms or so. I think that is around 2500 miles. This adjustment was big time.
