Need some help dear friends...Please!
Well I did it again, closed the image window and lost all my text as well. Rank amateur hours...Dammit
Ok, F.K's what I wrote last time but it was way to long. I have pictures to help. I also have engine and frame numbers. I think it could be a Loncin or Zongshen engine, but who really knows who built what? It sold in Australia as a Kinlon KBR200RT, so 200cc OHV, not OHC. I really need to replace the gear lever but I have never had to buy something I cannot find parts for. Also a Kick start lever (I think this is the entirely wrong one fitted) and an Oil filler cap (almost no ability to unscrew it) I have pictures with caliper measurements on them, done across the spline and thread. They are named images so if you hover over them, it will give you a name of which item it might be. Frame number; *LLCJYL200AB100917* Engine number; 163FML-2 *JQ051867* The bike was registered in Australia in 2014, the same year of sale. If someone can tell me what the correct spline sizes are and the oil cap, I can purchase of AliExpress and have them inside of 2 weeks. I would really appreciate any information anyone may have about the engine, as the only problem is the starter motor, it spins but does not engage. Cheers, Jeff

I'm curious about the starter. If it spins, your halfway there, I believe. How does the gear look? My understanding is the gear gets thrown out from the spinning using centrifugal force. Maybe it's just stuck? Have you tried cleaning or throwing some WD40 in there?

The only way a starter could spin but not engage is if the transfer ratio gear is missing or damaged. a 163FML should be CG200 clone.
Between the starter and the flywheel cover there should be a smaller cover that houses the starter transfer gear. without it the starter cannot engage with the sprag clutch gear on the flywheel. |

There seems to be a common issue with used Australian CG engines from unknown origins that have missing starter transfer gears and or a broken flywheel sprag clutch. I know what it is because I had to fix my CG250 in much the less same way. |

I just pulled all the brake calipers apart and cleaned them out, as I said, I am going through it with a fine tooth comb. The starter looks simple enough to get at, so weather permitting I might put it back onto the jack and have look. I'll keep you posted.

If I may ask, what is a CG 250 and thanks for the heads up. I replied to bigdano about my plans which will cover both of your helpful suggestions.

That starter motor help is great and I will post feedback as I move ahead with working on it.
Still no ideas on how to measure the splines or the oil filler cap thread ?

That is a 16mm kickstarter shaft. There are many, many 16mm kickstarter levers on ebay and Amazon. 13mm is another very common size. It would be nice if they included the number of splines but they don't. These 16mm kick starters appear to be yet another Honda clone (Honda XL250R XL250S 1978-1987 AND other models), but the chinesium engines are noted on the sellers specs. You may just have to order one and test it.
One thing to consider is just how this kiskstart will tuck in (or not!) when folded into the engine. Some of them will constantly hit your calf while you ride. It can bruise over and over! Choose one that seems to curve to tuck behind the cylinder nicely By the way, the 167FMM has 233cc displacement if it has 66mm stroke or could be 65mm (229cc). You can check this here. Just enter 67mm bore and 66mm or 65mm stroke, and one cylinder, of course: https://spicerparts.com/calculators/...ent-calculator

Do you think this would apply to the oil filler plug as well? This is really frustrating me. I know the Yamaha SX4 filler plug screws straight in. I am just buggered if I know what and how to get the thread width and pitch measurement.

Do a search for your model number to get some images. That way you can see the bends in the kick starter before you order one. A search may also show links to other owners on other sites (Thumper Talk, My China Moto, Adventure Rider, and even this one) to get more info on your bike.
