Speedometer cable broke

It broke, the inner cable. Right below that actual gauge you look at. So I will be contacting XXX motorsports for a replacement, unless anyone has one laying around?

I went around to the local dealers to see if they had on, but they didn't, so I guess I will put in a warranty claim.

Really? Through who? I contacted Goldenvale about some parts similar to this and they said they were not warranty parts.

Also, there must be a replacement that matches one of the big 4. Has anyone checked their local shops? These aren't "special" speedometer cables. It has to match something that is already in production IMO.

Let us know

Jason

fatboy....I agree, it seems like there is something else that might work....
many jap bikes used the slotted end/one end,...and squared end, other end, inner cable...........and I would like to see a cable a couple inches longer.....

I'm working on possible matches now,...will let you know if I find something.

JC Whitney has a universal speedometer cable that works on my viva. You just cut it to size and crimb the correct fitting on the cable. Works great and it fit perfectly. I am not sure how to get the link on here put here is the address. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...edometer+cable
Hope this helps.

Send a message via AIM to msRandi
To add to what Rachel said, the replacement is heavier and more flexable and should last longer.

Yes, this is the kind of stuff we need in the Cross Reference Parts List. I will add it.

The 1 year warranty is through XXX motorsports, who I bought the bike through.

Is it just me or are the speedo cable routed in a terrible way? Lots of stress on that cable.

hi....its my thinking that the cable is too short to be routed the way it is,..........and yes, its under a lot of stress..........

the counter needs to be directed more to the rear, so the cable connector is straighter up,.....or a longer cable is needed

it looks like the DB-07A is one of the few that have the cable positioned like it is?....dont know that for sure, but from pics, it looks like the other 200 models have the cable more to the rear

Yeah if you really look at the layout of the bike the cables and brake line are crossing each other. It seems as if the front forks should be turned around, but that would shorten the wheelbase a bit.
