Champion fuel bowl leaking???

I really don't know where else to put this since we don't have a "Tech" section.

Is it just s.o.p. for these to leak if the bike sits for say 3 weeks?
Or do I need better float bowl screws
and better torque when putting it back on?

I's a PZ20 mikuni clone carb, it just leaks any time it sits for more than a couple days.
My only complaint about the bike since I did my other mods.

I wonder if the float is getting stuck in the up position, letting fuel get up to the gasket or O-ring.

Do you shut the fuel petcock off after you've parked it?

I think I should have been more specific,
Yes, I usually shut off the fuel and run it dry before putting it away.

I leaks like there's a crack, or gap in the o-ring, and drips fuel on turns.
But it generally only does this when it's sat for min 2-3 weeks,
And once it leaks for a bit it kind of seals itself back up.

Last time I rode the Phoenix trip I ran into full wash crossings on the way back,
Some chest deep, Whitey handled it great.
Then I let him set since then (Aug 14) and now the leak is back.

I've tried doing the empty carb full tank thing, which lead to the first leak.
I've tried sea-foam for stabilizer (that works awesome!)
doesn't do anything for the leak, but the gas is still fresh.
But it seems like the o-ring drys out or something during the down time.
Maybe I'll just have to start trying as much as possible to daily the bike.

Or maybe some allen head screws so I can actually adjust/tighten them
without having to remove the carb.

Why not just drop the float bowl and take a look in there?

So you ran an Ice Bear Champion through chest deep water?

Do you happen to be a "little person" or do you have a 6' tall snorkel on the bike.

Nope I'm not a "little person" I just hit it at around 20-25mph
and got completely doused, But the bike kind of divided the waters so to speak
due to the speed and it never hit the airbox intake tube.
I was actually in the water for maybe half a second.
It's not like it was a river crossing.
