Hawk Rear rack mount points, similar to?....

Pending deliver on Hawk DLX.

Already shopping for mods. I want to put a rear rack on for small shopping errands. Originally was considering a DR200s, price brings me here. So considering this rack.

Is the Hawk most closely copied from a Honda CRF250?

Has anyone found a bike from the big 4 that matches mounding points for the Hawk?

The body of the Hawk is most closely a copy of, I think, the Honda NXR160, which is not a model you will see stateside. It's also not quite a carbon copy. Maybe someone who knows more than me will chime in. They usually do.


I don't think a rack from a CRF250 will fit. The Hawk wishes it was a CRF250, and sometimes its owners do, too, but the frame is totally different.


There are four mounting holes on the tail of the Hawk and its ilk, which go to the rear subframe. I think most people just roll their own rack. I did, and I used a thick poly cutting board after putting the appropriate holes and milling some slots in it for straps.

It's similar to nothing I have found, at least sold in the U.S. If you can get your hands on an NXR150/160 rack I would be curious (and impressed).

I have been running the above mentioned TT250 rack for a while now and I love it. You can save yourself the money if you are handy with tools and simply make one as well. It's just a flat plate with the 4 rear holes at the back in it as a pattern. We have had guys adapt mounts from Givi for top boxes by simply drilling holes, some guys just cut out their own out of plate, and we even had one guy use a surplus metal military mess tray.
