New Hawk 250 DLX or used SSR XF250
I'm a street rider who has started riding ADV bikes (I own a CSC RX4). Now I'm looking at getting a 250cc dual sport for trail riding and working on fundamentals on a smaller bike. I'm trying to decide between getting a hawk DLX or picking up a used 2016 SSR xf250. A local has a 2016 SSR Xf250 for sale with 3,300 miles, a new battery, and not running after winter and is asking $2,200. Likely just the carb needing cleaned. As much as I know my way around a carburetor, I do appreciate fuel injection. The Hawk DLX used the same delphi system that my RX4 uses and has treated me well for the last 15k miles. The SSR has more dealer availability and is already registered in my state. The Hawk on the other hand is new and the same price. I have a truck to haul a bike to riding areas further away. I would ideally like something capable of 65mph to hey between trails as needed. Thoughts?

Yep. Big fan of the XF250. I have the bike that preceded it (Qlink 200) and it's been flawless since 2009.

Bought the XF250 March 2021 and have put 6800 on the Odometer. It has been completely reliable on and off road. Compared to the other China bikes it's pricey and parts, at least from the dealer, can be as well. Only reason I say that is that I was down for a while with a broken rear spoke and the dealer charges a bit too much for oil filters. But you get what you pay for. If you can find it, there is also a Haynes Service Manual for it, which has been extremely helpful to me. Swapped the motard rubber for Kenda dual sports, which are surprisingly good on the road. No problem hitting 65 on level ground, but you'll be winding it out pretty good

Not sure which filter the XF250 uses but these are what I get for my XP200. I bought a half dozen so no worries about running out for a while.
