New TT250 in the High Desert
Hi all,
After 7 years without a bike, I’m back in the saddle and stoked. I’ve been inching my way back and finally made it. A couple weeks ago, I picked up an ‘81 XL 185 for cheap that the owner said had been sitting a year. I figured it would be quick little project to get it up and running so I could finally start riding again. I was wrong. After tearing into it, I’d say it’s been sitting about 5 years. And I think his sprinkler was pointed at it. Every cable is seized. If the brown recluses don’t get me, the tetanus will. Anyways, it’s still going to be a fun project but a long time before it’s ridden so my wife greenlighted getting something new. Obviously, when you’re wife says go buy a motorcycle, you go buy a new motorcycle. On Monday I picked up a TT250 from CSC (great guys at the shop) and yesterday mounted some Kenda K772 Parker DTs. Stoked! So much fun to be back on a bike. I mostly plan on using it to explore the area (Pinon Hills, Wrightwood) - very fortunate to have both desert and mountain trails in our backyard. I’m also already getting crazy ideas as well. Been watching lots of LA-Barstow 2 Vegas videos and thinking, “Hmmm…could a China bike make it??” Happy Riding, Scott |

A Chinese bike can easily make it. Congrats and have fun!

Working on old bikes can be fun, but not usually as much fun as riding a bike. Congrats on both purchases and welcome aboard!

Thank you all for the welcome. TxTaoRider, I have to agree. With as limited free time as I have now, I really enjoy being able to just fire it up and ride.
Today I mapped out a “dirt route” to work so that should give me the chance to put this bike through the paces and see what it can do.

Welcome aboard!
I live in Las Vegas and bought my TT250 in the fall and was planning on lots of winter / spring rides ..... until an unscheduled heart bypass surgery delayed things. I won't be able to start riding again for a few months but am really looking forward to hitting the dirt. Enjoy your TT! I sure liked my initial rides on mine (until all hell broke loose).

Welcome. I love the old XLs too, but sometimes it just takes to much out of you to resurrect one.
