I have built engines for bracket race cars, and I agree that they should be broken in hard, under load to help the rings seat, the same reason cheap non detergent oil should be used. But, I doubt it makes any noticable difference in power on these little motors and probably not enough difference to add 10-15mph to the top speed. Lol

Wobble is not the tires. They did a study on it in the UK a long time ago.

Street tires did help, also lowering myself helps. However, it feels unsafe at high speeds.

The wobble you are experiencing can be caused by a few different factors. Poorly seated tire beads being one. Wheels not trued enough, yadda yadda yadda. Heck even suspension tuning, wheel spoke harmonics issues due to tensions, tread depth, shape, pattern, etc.

Me, personally, I have always preached the joy of a bike that can cruise comfortably at 60 to 65 and has the extra grunt from my engine mods for acceleration. If I really need to go faster than that I have a bike MUCH better suited to the task. That is why I have never bothered to gear lower than the ubiquitous 17/45 that many Hawks use.

My Magician will go 64 mph and tracks fine and feels stable. I would take it faster if it would go but at higher speed all that could change. It is a very nimble bike and rides well on the street.

Cruising at 65 is pretty stable. Unless it's windy.
I didn't really notice the wobble much until about 65 and more at 70. (After tires changed)


With the stock tires 65 was wobbly and scary, with it starting at about 55.



It's possible that changing the suspension a bit could help with this. I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

My 03 HD Vrod has a seat height 9” lower and weighs twice as much as my Hawk DLX. One other thing it can go twice the top end of the Hawk easily. Thinking out loud the lower and heavier might have something to do with the wobbles. My thoughts ������

I would go through the suspension completely and see what I could find starting with the wheel bearings looking for play. I would tighten all the spokes and look at the run out. The Magician uses a drop link rear suspension that is pretty crude. If you haven't, I would take it apart and grease it up good and check for clearance issues.

My Magician tops out at about 64, my Bashan at 68, and they are both smooth as silk. The only thing I've ever had wobble on was a Shogun bicycle, going around 40 mph downhill; that just about made me crap my pants.
