Ordered a new Hawk 250 today

I used to ride Enduro way back in the dark ages, had a '75 Honda Elsinor MT250. I loved that bike. Scroll forward a lifetime + 3.5 years (a story for later) and my Indian Scout needs a companion in the garage, soooo... Here I am getting a somewhat nostalgic enduro bike. I'm looking forward to some trail riding in the area (Colorado has some excellent mountain trails andI'm sure I'll be looking to y'all for some tips and tricks for my new toy when it arrives. Looking forward to some good times!

-Steve

Welcome to the forum. I badly wanted an Elsinore back in the day but I couldn't make it happen. The guy who repairs our UTVs has one of those brushed finish Elsinore tanks on the wall in his shop.

Well, it took 1 day to get to Denver from Arlington, then a week to get from Denver to my house in Brighton (just northeast of Denver ~ 15 miles)... BUT IT'S HERE! Here's a picture of how far I was able to get before dinner. Not ridable yet, but I can start on the real assembly and PDI now.

Congrats! I worked for a short time for Adams County at the county building in Brighton many years ago. That tall building is probably long gone!

My wife works at the "new" county building out on Hwy2 near 120th; not sure what building you are referring to, I've only been here since 2012.

This has been 30 years, so I wanna say it was off of Brighton Ave. It was in an odd place, residential neighborhood and 12 stories tall, parking lot in front.

Welcome aboard! I'll bet at your altitude that you won't have to mess with your jetting much.

I did have to pull the carb and shim the needle, then turn the screw on the side of the carb in a few turns to get it to idle, but it runs OK for now. Ordered a new Mikuni from Amazon and some jets (because the stock carb isn't the greatest to begin with) should get it to be more responsive throughout the throttle range soon.
