Having to buy a new Jug

Well Had a loose chain get seized and it yanked the engine so hard that it ripped the exhaust flange bolts. retapping is not an option.

So I think i have 2 options.

Air cooled (if it fits)

Watercooled upgrade

Would it be worth going the watercooled route if I'm on the bike for hours at a time? Also, I don't have the measurements for my engine, but does it look like these parts will fit?

Did it just rip the flange bolt threads out?

If the bike runs fine, could you just JB weld the studs in permanently?

Just me being a low budget bush mechanic.

if your bike is water cooled then you get the water cooled jug and air for air. interchangeability is not an option.

Both of them look to be air cooled, plus i don't think goint water cooled is just putting a new jug.

To be honest i don't is really worth, those motorcycles can go for hours and hours without issue.

it ripped part of the sidewall out exposing the bolt hole to the exhaust port itself
JB weld doesn't hold up at high heat/vibration. It's fine for engine blocks, but on the exhaust flange it's likely to fall apart one it experiences high heat combined with vibration. Learned that the hard way on my old motorized bike. It just wont have the strength to keep an exhaust stud in for long, at least not in a manner i can safely trust.

Don't have a welder or the stuff to actually repair the original jug right now, so the short term safest option would be to replace the jug. If I was just riding off road the jb weld wouldn't be a worry but I ride this thing for an hour and a half long commute, then spend up to 14 hours riding (Grub Hub) so I need a proper fix for safety sake.

as for the watercooling, from what i can see it might be possible to add it to the cg250, so guess what. I'm gonna do it when I get enough saved up for an 2nd bike to tinker with. Does it need to be done, probably not. But tinkering is what makes these bikes more fun!

Why do you want to replace the jug? The exhaust port is on the head. Get a head from partskit, brozz250 or CSC tt250.

You may want to check with the JB Weld manufacturer. As I understand, they also produce a High Temp version of their product that may be able to work without melting.

They do in fact make a high temp version. I had to use it on my boat. It is a much thinner consistency however. Less of a putty and more like a thin wall spackle. Might be hard to get it the studs to anchor in the head
