2019 Hawk -- bike back together after exhaust valve catastrophic failure

I got the pig back together here last night and took it for a short run around the block. I thought I had screwed shit up but then i realized it was still on half-choke... still needs the valve gap set and waiting on some pilot jets for the carb but she is at least running up and under her own power.

some thoughts:
- take more pictures when in disassembly mode. the CG250 manual helped a little bit, but not enough. I spent hours trying to find where that last circlip came from and where the hell that bronze colored bracket was supposed to bolt to. many case on, case off moments that could have been avoided had i not gotten ahead of myself and taken more pictures.

- i used kerosene in a windex sprayer to "clean" any metal out of the case. this was followed by an oil bath and then a quick oil change this morning after about a mile ride. the kerosene came out in that oil change. was expecting some small metal pieces in the oil screen. there was none, but there was a ton of cottonwood seeds from the air...

- all in all, not a difficult job. certainly within the realm of ability for anyone with some mechanical knowledge and some tools. I have some pics of the engine mechanicals I'll post below because I wanted some in the midst of this.

thanks again to all the responses from the previous thread. a lot of well wishing and advice helped me through this.

John

Thanks for posting. Now i'm sure you can help someone else if they needed help. These little engines are fairly simple. Taking pictures is a good practice especially on something that you don't have a good manual on. Even with a manual i still take pictures just to make sure.
