Step, by Step
Okay, so the check is in the mail. My father is sending me $1,000 USD. Once I cash the check, I would like to go to this private seller in my town and buy one of his 2007 Cool Sports 200GY-5's. What at are some step by step instructions as to what questions I ask this guy, and how I go about getting the bike on the street. Keep in mind that I'm a 17 year old male and I DO NOT have my motorcycle license yet. How do I go about getting the title in my name, getting my motorcycle's license, and achieving motorcycle insurance on the bike? Simply put, what do I do in order to ride and how do I go about doing it? This will be my first bike, I'm a complete noob.
Thanks

I got the vender to write on the bill of sale that, if the bike is unplateable, or uninsureable that the sale was void. Don't know if your guy would do the same thing. Desert Dog covered most of it, try to do everything in the bike prep thread, it really does increase your chances of having fun. N2r.

Since it is a private seller that you said in another post already tag and insured them then you should get a clear title from him that you and he sign.
Bring the title to the DMV place where you get your car tags and transfer it to you and get a tag. You probably need insurance first so call Progressive or Geico or whatever insurance company you have for your car or parent's car. Go take the MSF course. (I bet Mom would approve and fork out part of the cost). Get a helmet, jacket, gloves. Prep the bike probably and you will avoid many hassles later. Allen

Okay, so if I don't get to take the MSF course and have to result going to the license place, is the only thing I'll need with me the bike and a helmet?

Some links for you to look at.
http://www.asp.state.ar.us/divisions...e_0704_rev.pdf It appears that you will need a parental consent form since you are under 18. Allen

Keep in mind what your state expects moto riders to wear when taking testing/ msf course. A helmet and bike are a good start, but I know here you must wear eye protection and gloves as well as helmet.
Also don't show up in shorts and Nikes.
