TBR7 Stator Problems
Bought a TBR7 in January. Rode it on and off road for a couple of months no problems. Was about 1/2 mile away from the house it dies complete shut down. Pulled it off the road did some checks to find the problem, no dice. Now i heard it rattling before it shut down. Got it home, checked the plug no spark. Got out the VOM meter started checking the ignition system. Pulled the cover over the stator there it laid three bolts all disconnected and loose. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem ?

If the stator is not damaged, then the best thing you could do is to clean any oil out of the threads and use some 243 Loctite (high temp, oil resistant, medium strength) when re-installing the bolts.

Now, if we want to talk about Loctite collections... I have a drawer dedicated to the stuff. retaining compounds, thread lockers, you name it.

I will do that next time. Even though the VOM meter said the stator was good. I didn't use loctite on the bolts, for fear i'd have to take back apart to replace it if the original stator didn't work. I did order a new stator I have that now. Its been a month now the old ones still working charges the battery, powers the ignition system. I did torque the bolts down want to see if they come loose again,or if it was a slip in the manufacturing. |

Using blue Loctite, it's not going to prevent you from removing the bolts. The RED stuff on the other hand...

my more seasoned dirt bike riding friend (see below bikes) was very adamant about "Only use a drop or two of that stuff (loctite) , don't go crazy with that sh!t" Of course he has only had the big 4 dirt bikes so there's that....

Well, realistically you do only need a drop or two. It doesn't take much to cover a portion of the threads to begin with.
