Tbr7 Need Help!

I purchased a TBR7 last year it has 1066 miles on it so I decided to check the valves to see if they were still in spec from adjusting them after breakin which they are. I live in Indiana so Im running a 112 main jet I left the piloy as stock which actually ran great until recently.. However after checking the valves once I put the bike back together It would NOT start so i topped it off with gas and she starting but was running weird. So I went and got a new plug still the same. It was getting late so I left it. The next day I went out there and it fired and ran great so I went for a test drive and she ran perfect for about 5min until it warmed up than same thing. It runs perfect when cold but bogs out and dies around 4k rpm when under load it will rev perfect in neutral. I figure it is the CDI so that is on order just wanted to get others opinions.

Sorry for the long story.... Thank for your help!

Just from informal observations, it appears Taotao might have bad CDIs more so than other brands. Fortunately, easy and low cost fix. I would wait until your CDI comes in before touching anything else.

My question becomes how is one related to the other?

How do you bridge valve lash adjustment with a faulty CDI ?

Not challenging anyone...rather just curious

The smaller n cheaper units are the less quality
$5 even here in China is known to be hit n miss

Wow... super glad to have you on the board with that background.

Thank you so much and again, please understand I was not challenging you in any way.. just trying to understand symptoms as a TBR owner.

Thank you my friend

I have a 2013 TMEC 200 dual sport I bought new in 2014. It replaced my 2009 model I bought used and rode for two years. Soon after, I had issues with the bike dying as if there was something wrong with the starter or spark plug. It would not start. There just happened to be someone here on Chinariders from Germany having issues with his Skyteam branded dual sport, and he fixed it with a new CDI. I still had my 2009 TMEC for parts, so I yanked out the CDI and tossed it in the 2013, and, BOOM!, she started right up!! I did get a CDI under warranty, so I had it for a spare. I think I still have it in the package, lol. I am no expert, but when I hear the symptoms from time to time, I suggest this quick and cheap fix. I could be wrong on this particular situation, but ruling out a CDI is easy and cheap, and it can never hurt to have a spare one around.

Probably. I saw a bunch on Ebay a few years back, but it was the dealer who sent me mine.
