My new TbR 7 will not start

Well I have everything ready to go on the bike but cannot get it to start. The battery has a full charge, the light turns on. You hit the starter and it tries to start but it will not. It sounds like it is not getting any gas or the like. I did do a oil change and put new oil in. Any ideas? Spark plug looks good. The spacing looks good. I am at a lost.

Yep. The hoses are hooked up also.

I don't know much about the Tbr, does it have a kickstand switch? If so pull the kickstand up and try it again.

Hrm, is the valve lash set? It really should start even if it's off but it starting can be much harder if the valves are tight. Just running down the checklist here, These engine are super basic if you've got spark and fuel there isn't much else.

This

I would either pull the plug or use a spare plug , stick the plug into the cap and rest it against the head to ground it. Crank the engine to see if it sparks, if a good strong spark occurs then check the fuel. Open the drain screw on the carb and see if it runs gas out of the drain hose, that way you know fuel is making it to the bowl.

Checked this. I do have fuel coming out of the carb with the drain screw turned. I did check the spark and I do get a spark. When I try to start it I can feel the compression from the exhaust. I checked all the wiring from top to bottom. Everything is hooked up correctly. I rechecked the oil and that is right on spec. I have a older bike like this one with a 189 cc engine and I have torn that down and put it back together and did not have a problem. I tried the kick start also and that did not work. I wish the seats came off better. I checked the air box and the filter is good and there is no water or oil in the air box.

I think the TBR7 has a resistor on the cap. Make sure the plug isn't a resistor plug. A couple of members had the same issue. You should use a non resistor plug with a resistor cap.

We had a small member group ride in Arizona in November. One member was on a TBR7 and started having starting issues when we stopped. It was revealed he did have the wrong spark plug but also, days later, since no one had the same kind to trade out and diagnose on the trail, the CDI was bad. It is a relatively cheap fix; ebay or amazon should have them. I believe I have seen that Tao bike owners (including scooters) have been diagnosing CDI units more so than others.
