Is It Easy To Kick Start A China Bike?
Said it before and I will say it again, I love this cheap bike. I even love kick starting it.
Cold Start Only One Kick / Stock Carburetor Pz30. Pilot drilled .45 / Main jet drilled 115 / Three washers on the needle and fuel screw below out about 1.4 Holds steady idle at 1400 and runs beyond perfect. Mods are pipe and pod filter. Jetting (set up) is for summer time. No choke needed down to 60 degrees with this set up. Colder temperatures maybe open up the fuel screw below to 2 turns out and leave jets alone, will see.. Hate changing jets on the Magician, must take off the tank and side panels. Carb responds quick with all throttle inputs no matter how fast you snap the grip. No flat spots or hesitations anywhere and pulls very strong. |

Mine is the same way. It's amazing what a well tuned carb will do. Thanks for showing the proper way to kick start a bike. Rotate it until you're on the compression stroke.
BTW Like the 69 442. My brother had one the same color.

I’m not too surprised that the stock carb well tuned works perfectly fine etc
The stories of Mikuni clones or stock carbs being no good is often said without knowledge and people didn’t tune the original. I said long ago drilling jets was common back in the day, I offered a kit with more jets n a drill for the Shen Wey carb to 0.45mm etc which would give people your idea with a little less drama of finding other drills n more flexible having more main jets n adjustable needle. My kit now is far superior as it’s got the correct pilot jet for Shen Wey main jets and optional extra mains n pilots - probably easier for most guys to manage easier maybe even a little cheaper or similar price but still the parts to achieve the results you have as well. You did a fine job in the way you did it, hats off to your skills. Others might rather also look into my kit if they’re a little less skilled or less tools etc and would rather have it a bit easier but both options or ways can work perfectly well, if you have some skills |

Sweet! I've had a few bikes that always started first kick, like my '85 ATC 200X. Even my Scrambler 400 starts amazingly well with the UFO carb. I turn the choke on and pull it over slowly one turn (the electric starter teeth were shaved off the flywheel for weight reduction), then I turn the choke off and give it one good pull. Fires right up even if it's been setting a couple months or if it's 14° outside (it's basically a 2 stroke snow mobile engine).

That's a pretty sweet looking bike, I think having to take the tank off to work on the carb is a fair trade. Four barrel, four speed, dual exhaust lol!
