What is the oldest china gy youve seen? I owned a 1994 XingFu 125 gy. It was a retired MSF course bike. Just curious.

Xingfu 125's (My uncle had owned a 94' XF125-A that had ~300,000+ km /odometer broke=not worth the $$$ to fix it) quality is OK, forks never spill oil & the rim's chrome shrine as NEW after 13 yrs, but that old 6v is troublesome to match the spare bulb (Fixed it by changing to 12v system)
This man modified it & had a 18 days (~4000 km) 2 ppl trip.

No kidding. 30 000km for a 13 yrs old bike is very LOW in China- TIC (That is CHiNA). 300 000+ km (in that time Chinese good is not as junk as today ) ,the odometer rounded the third time & dead some days in 05'. He use it as a working horse- motorcycle taxi/ delivering samples btw factories supporting these business bike in that town.

This ex- CATV engineer in 06' did a 6 months trip ~32000 km in a similar bike that are based on a Honda CG125.

huh?

You're confusing me. One moment it is 300 000, the next moment it is 30 000.
Count the zero's again and tell me whether it is:
30 000 km or
300 000 km

30 000 I'll believe, but not 300 000.

With places like that to tour, i think i could easily run the wheels off my bike! That gives me more confidence that i can get 50k street miles with enought TLC.

Normal days ~60 mile(as commuter)/ Busy with the "mini"
lychee orchard ~10 mile, 300 000+ in 11 yrs isn't that hard to reach. Don't forget "TiC" factor. Ride it rain/shine and that area is sub-tropical (no snow).
Due to that stuipd scrapping law , that Xf125-A gone to heaven (If don't scrapping it within that peroid u lost ur "quota". City govt don't issue new m/c plate, to bought "quota to trade a new plate" is ~$1.2k from a previous owner). The new workhorse is KYMCO KK125-2L.

How do you keep it going so long? 8O

Engine replacements?

Periodic cylinder kit replacement?

Tranny cluster change outs?.

What are the most frequent points of failure on these pushrod honda clone engines?

If you do the math it works out to about 14,300 miles a year.

I drive about 40K a year between work vehicles and personal. I can easily see it, but I am sure it wasn't done on one engine or without at least one complete overhaul.

I don't know Kato. I think it may be possible. I've literally done nothing to the engine on mine [except oil change every 1k] and have almost 14k miles in 1.5yrs and still running well. It's all the other things on the bike that I have to keep an eye on.

I am sure that most of the bike was replaced over the years too. Parts are readily available in china also.

I don't think my lifan will last to 30K. The engine maybe, but the rest of the bike will have fallen apart. By then I will be ready for an upgrade too.

The one I had was showing 80,000 some odd km. We tried to kill it. It was tough as nails. I sold it to an old man who uses it for gold minning in the mountains. It never failed either of us.
