Oil change question Hawk 250
Probably a stupid question but new to this. I am changing the oil out of my Hawk 250. I was going to use conventional 10W-40 SF, however Castrol had a clearance of full synthetic SAE10W-40 4T Motorcycle oil API SL JASO MA-2 specs. Will this be OK for my bike? It has 3 miles on it.

Personally, I would say keep that oil handy and go grab some Rotella T4 to run for the first 200-300 miles and then do an oil change and switch it over to the Castrol. Technically, break in can be done on synthetic for a lot of modern engines thanks to better manufacturing processes, materials, and better machining tolerances. Since these engines are an old design and not assembled with the most modern processes and techniques, it is, in my opinion, better to give it a more old school treatment and start with a high zddp conventional oil like Rotella T4. The great thing about T4 is that it is inexpensive and meets all of the specs for the engine and has a high zddp content, making it a great option for a break in oil.
