EMS Hawk

So I am exploring the possibility of getting 4 hawks for EMS use. I have owned a hawk for 3 years and love it. My department has a mountain bike team and I have been getting multiple inquiries for a motorcycle team for special events and for use in disaster relief areas. I know there may be better options but same reason most of us have Hawks, budget is an issue.
Anyway I am looking for input on how much draw electrically I could put on these. How much electrical draw are you pulling with aux. lights etc. successfully. Would be looking for LED emergency lights and a low draw siren. Also would need some cases and wondering if anyone has some good mounting systems out there. I think the RX3 might be a better option overall but I am trying to keep costs as low as possible and would like a little bit better off-road prowess.
-Picture is of Austin Travis County EMS motorcycles, looking to do a VERY, VERY cheap version.

Thanks

I think I would go with CSC TT250(s). They have a 300 watt power supply! If the budget allows, I would probably look at the RX4!

Keep us posted!

You might consider calling CSC for either their TT250 which have higher output electricals, or the CSC RX3 in police guise. Not super cheap, but way budget priced as compared to brand name and higher quality (either bike) as compared to other Chinese offerings. Or look to Lifan's X-Pect 200 for its quality and fuel injection.

I think the tt250 would be better for out of the box reliability. The hawk can be reliable, but it really deserves a once over for the weaker parts. Tt250 has a bit stronger electrical system too.

I think the electrical system will be okay as long as you also change out all the stock lights to LED too. The Lifan's X-Pect 200 would be a good choice as it has EFI and will have a real manufactures warranty and support in the US.

Here's what I mean...I think for general, personal use = fine. But, other people relying on this for safety...?

I also agree that the TT250 would be a better out of the box choice. At a minimum you have a warranty on the bikes by a company that actually honors said warranty, but they are just built and assembled to a better standard with better quality parts. Plus. as mentioned the TT250 comes with more than double the charging capacity and accessory plugs in the harness and handlebar controls for them. Yes, you can almost buy 2 Hawks for the price of one TT250 ($1400 delivered vs. $2595 delivered) but given the intended use, I would say it is definitely worth spending the extra money up front. The biggest issue with the Hawk is that there is no consistency in the quality control. Some guys get Hawks and never have to touch a thing and they are reliable while others have to fight and fix the things for weeks or months until the bike is solid and reliable.

As far as luggage goes, at this point I don't believe there is an off the shelf option for any of these bikes. Most guys have fabricated their own pannier mounts.

That is why I mentioned the RX3; not only luggage, but there is a police version with all the emergency lights wired in and attached.

There is a 350Watt stator verion I have seen, not yet double check the fitment. TT250 has a 300 watt
I think the Hawk would need to be helped lol as these are the cheapest thing and not sold in China due to being too cheap.
The RX3 does come as a firebike I have seen that

I think as long as any Hondoid, even the TT250, is running that wimpy box steel swing arm, I'd not count on one for the long haul of serious duty.
Now the Apollo or Pitster Pro on the other hand......

I forgot about suggesting the Pitster.

Brozz has a better swingarm as well. One of the reasons I bought it over another hawk.

with a bike ems could get to accidents faster. any bike will do. your not going to be stressing the bike that much. even with the high charging stators you may need an additional battery to run the lights while parked and not running. maybe an isolator switch to go to a reserve battery. i cant see anything an ems guy would do that would put stress on any swingarm unless he is 400 lbs or more.

Thank you all for the replies. I am thinking the RX3 maybe a better choice as well. These will be used only for special events like marathons and some of the off-road music festivals, etc, that we typically use mountain bikes but sometimes the distances just get too long so the ability to go 40 over 20 and not be gassed when you get there is the key. I am interested in this police RX3 though. The RX4 seems awesome but costs might be prohibitive.
