Vader 125 carb

Can I just upgrade the jet in the factory carburetor?
What size jet and link to a jet that will fit.

What would be the reason to upgrade or change the jets? I'm guessing you have a P20 carb. You won't see any performance increase by just putting bigger jets in the factory carb. You can buy a vm22 for cheap, I paid 35 bucks and it works fine.

If I get a new carb do I need to get rid of the whole stock air box?

I don't think your stock carb is serviceable, that would be a big reason to swap in a vm22 plus I've seen the factory carb fall apart from the vibration these bikes have.

Upgrade the carb, it’s like having a brand new faster bike.

This carb kit will fit your bike, it is just under 29 dollars, shipped. It includes carb, matched intake manifold, and filter :https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-VM22-26...pe!32420!US!-1

You will need to order a jet kit separately, they run about 6 - 7 bucks ,can find em also on EBay . The pilot jets are usually okay in the mikuni ,just want to stick a 110 or 115 main in there before you put it on.Set idle screw and air/fuel screws to 1-1/2 turns out ,and then adjust from there as needed.

You can run a carb spinner like this :https://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-Carb-Ad...UAAOSwymxVMm09
if you dont want it to point dead to the front ,up to you . I have mine turned where it side exits somewhat like a Harley. , because i have an oil cooler set up on my Vader

that the air filter would have hit if i ran it without one.

Absolutely you will see an improvement in performance and with these small bikes a little more power feels like alot also a better flowing exhaust is another big improvement. These are two of the things that most upgrade that will really wake up your bike. You can leave the air box and all of the emissions but if your state doesn't require inspection then removing just takes away some headaches you "WILL" have down the road.

California doesn’t require bikes to smog to I got rid of the stock garbage air box. Next thing I’m going to do is upgrade the exhaust and that will prob be it for a while in regards to performance upgrades.
