I still maintain that the 17 front and 43 rear is the best highway/commuter combo, but there are also people that run all the way down to 39 in the rear and been happy.

In the end, the best part about sprockets is that you always have options. Try the 40, and if you find it is a little too tall, swap to a 16 front sprocket. That will give you the same basic gearing as a 17/43. If that doesn't suit you, swap to the 15 tooth front and that will give you the same gearing as a 17/45. You can sample all three ratios at once lol.

I have the 17/40 going on as soon as this polar vortex (winter) passes. If I lose too much grunt for our trails and hill starts I will order the 43

and just to add to it the front is much easier to change!

I also need to know my CHAIN ADJUSTMENTS WITH WHAT TOOLS I WILL NEED FOR THE CHAIN?
THANK YOU

I have the 17/45 on mine now, ordered 16/40 because the X-Ring chain I wanted to put on wouldn't fit around the front sprocket between the engine case. Just an FYI for anyone with the 17t wanting to upgrade chains.

Cheers
I am offering a kit for new bikes and will include a sprocket and more.
To be fair I suggest a decent 520 chain that O ring and it doesn't need to be DID RX X Oring Vcore or anything like that, over investment on 15 Hp

For all it's worth the RX3 at 25Hp bike have a Choco 520 O ring stock and it is marginal for that yet I run this on my little bike and is great (OEM for most Chinese brand bikes like Zongshen Yamaha Suzuki anything branded that is) - also the fancy aspect is you can choose the colored chain in 520 and many sprocket options (once I confirm the correct rear sprocket yet I am sure I know what it is)

The Hawk has a $9 retail set of sprockets and chain on it................. You see why the stock set doesn't last huh

I need a 100% confirm my suspicion of the rear sprocket dimensions

Here are links to front and rear sprockets. Most on here use the JT sprockets.

In the 520 chain range there are colored sprockets and about 6 sizes as well as colored chain.

428 there is colored chain and maybe just maybe colored rear sprockets as I might be able to get them coated with a supplier (but might not work out 1 by 1)

Magician also has a 520 colored rear sprocket option and chain too.
