Sprockets and Chain Interference

Right off the bat I wanted to put the 17/45 sprocket combo on since all of my riding will be on road. Everything fit fine and it worked great. Ordered an X-Ring chain (DID 428VXX130FB Chain Pro-Street X-Ring) which arrived today, but being a touch wider it hits the engine case right in front of the sprocket.... Didn't want to risk grinding through anything critical, SO I put the stock chain back on and ordered a 16/40 sprocket set. If it's too low I'll put the 15 on. All the reading and videos I've watched about these bikes and all the upgrades, I'm surprised nobody else has run into this issue.

As far as I know, nobody has run into that issue. I ran a 17 front with an EK SROZ chain and it never touched there. The sprocket cover was an obscenely tight fit and I decided to to a little clearance grinding on it, but never on the engine case itself.

I was looking at sprockets and options today to make kits for sale
Maybe you can check the dimensions and as you see if my pics are correct there are a ton of combinations for the bike with a 428 chain that’s I ring and nice color options too

Let me know if I’m on the right size sprockets etc

Well it would appear something has changed. lol The 17t front sprocket and stock chain combo just barely clears that area, so I would say that sprockets larger than that would not work. If using a o-ring or x-ring chain, I wouldn't go past 16t.

I'm running a 17 with an o-ring chain with no issues. There where a couple of members a while back that had the same issue you have. The problem they had was the groove cut for the sprocket retainer was cut closer to the engine. there solution was to put the retainer on first and bolted the retainer on from the back side. It was a pain in the rear put worked. But looking at you picture it looks like you won't have long enough shaft to do that. A 15/40 combo will put you at about the same gear ratio as the 17/40. I found the 16/40 worked good as an all around gear ratio. It is good for street and light off road trail riding.

Did you notice the vast possibilities on the rear sprocket?
I mean that’s nearly an endless gear set that could be used assuming I got the right sprocket
I did google and compared to another online but I’d be wanting a sizing from a stock rear sprocket to be sure tho
