How to set valves onTaoTao ATA250D

Alto I've had ATV's I've never worked on them so I'm need some help here. Can some help me set the valves on my Taotao? I am have issues with starting it and the loud noise it makes almost lie it's trying to pop back through the carb but I don't think that's what is happening. I had someone a few months back tell me to adjust the valves but I don't think he told me the correct way so I'm not ashamed to ask for help because if you don't ask you never know. I had another say it was the starter drive clutch that was bad by letting the motor try to turn backward while trying to start. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The starter clutches on the ATA250D engines do make the squealing sound but it doesn't affect operation. There are videos on line that have step by step instructions on adjusting valves on a CG engine. 15 minute job after you do it a few times.

Thanks for helping me out on setting valves.
Everything looks ok on the starter gears. I need to get a new starter because mine stopped working. Any suggestions on where to buy from?

i believe this is TaoTao's own parts supply out of Texas. I just ordered from them On Sunday the Jan 20th, and the parts shipped yesterday. Should be here 1/24.

Engine and many other parts are the same as the Rhino 250.

Before getting a new starter, I would suggest you bench test the one you have. You may find that it's fine and that you have another issue. If you do find that the starter is bad, ordering one from Amazon or EBay will be easier than tracking one down by the ATV it goes to. There are ones that fit a wide range of vehicles. You just have to match up the bolt patterns.

Well the starter checked out ok but it seems I have a gear/gears that are wore down to where it's trying to work like it should but it seem to be slipping. If you loosen the starter and lift and twist it then it does better but still slips. By just looking at the gears they look good and don't appear to be stripped. I haven't got the Starter clutch off yet but it seems to be working like it's supposed to . If anyone has ideas or has had this issue I would like to know what you did to fix it.
Thanks
