Apollo 250cc advice?
So after searching the internet I found this Apollo 250cc bike. I was aware of the certain upgrades needed for this bike. so I've installed a vm26 30 mm carburetor an the bike ran well with the stock air box. But i took it out and put a pod filter on thw carb. I guess my question is what would be the best jet setting for the slow jet and the fast jet currently I have a 110 jet in a carburetor and the stock slow jet in the carburetor. I've seen people with up to 120 Jets. Whats the best combo given that i probably wont do anymore performance upgrades what would be a good combo.

The answer depends on your elevation. The closer you are to sea level, the fatter the jets need to be. I would imagine the outer limits to be in the range of 115-120 on the main and 27.5-30 on the slow jet.

So I live in nc. About two hours from the beach. I ordered a 115 main jet. Gonna look around at slow jets tonight. Also anyone know exactly what size shock is. The size quoted on some website was 380mm. Not sure if thats correct. I think mine is no good anymore.

I have the same bike and carb. I am at sea level and have a 30 pilot with the air/fuel screw at 2 1/2 turns out (carb came with this setting), and a 120 main. The bike runs fantastic, and have a nice tan burn on the spark plug.
The Mikuni will come with a 20 pilot, and a 100 main. Assuming you are less than 1000ft in elevation you should be good starting with a 27.5, and a 30 pilot jet, and a 115, 117.5, and a 120 main jet. You should be able to keep the needle clip in the middle. I have a buddy in SC that used to have the same bike/carb. He was around 800ft, and he installed the 27.5 pilot (2 1/2 turns out), and 117.5 main. He was very happy with the results, but sold the bike shortly after the carb upgrade. |
