Woo...i got to ride the Rat today (see Ride report forum or my blog for more detailed info)
I got the throttle cable installed (had to modify it a bit) and adjusted. I also changed the oil (10w40, topped off with Lucas) and made a few minor carb adjustments. A couple of runs up and down the street for testing, quite fun. The bike starts real easy and when its warm, it will start on one kick and i really backed the idle down so now its pretty quiet at idle. I need to get my headlight situation sorted, get new bars and grips (bars are bent, grips suck) and start looking for some plastics. I'll just continue tweaking for now.

Made some good progress today. I was able to confirm that my headlight wirig was intact and working. Now I just have to figure out how i'm going to mount a headlight.
also, my new grips arrived today so I was able to get my bars and grips installed. It looks like i'll need to replace the trottle assembly, or at least the sleeve. I found some damage when i removed the grip. I also am noticing a strange noise coming from the back end of the bike while riding that i'm going to have to track down. I'm not sure if its the chain or the wheel.

The inner plastic piece that is suppose to keep dirt and mud off the shock rubbed on the tire on mine. Also the chainguards like to rub the chain.

well, i don't have a chain guard so it's not that. I can't see that the tire is hitting anything. I thought it might be a vibration from the rear inner fender support since i found two places missing bolts. I put new bolts in and got everything tight and the sound is still there. I'm pretty sure its coming from the rear wheel. I'm going to have to pull the rear wheel to make sure everything is ok with the sprocket assembly as well.
Also, i have been looking for the thread with the good info on adjusting the clutch, but can't find it...where is it? anybody?

woot...bumping my own old thread
Got body plastics from culcune this week, decided to do a test fit. Pay no attention to the headlight bezel, its just sitting there but not in the right place. The Rat now has Roketa (chassis), Viva (exhaust), SunL (kickstarter) and JetMoto (tank and body plastics) parts as well as some generic aftermarket (bars, grips, shifter) Enjoy the pics...

Maybe 'usmc_mustang' will sell you the Jetmoto's headlight bezel? Looks good, still got that Sonoran Desert dust all over it! Did the throttle assembly work out for you? Heck, did the rest of the parts work?

today it was time to play with the body panels...
first off, strip all the stickers off.... Then, give them a good buffing with a 350 grit sanding sponge thingy then, in keeping with the Rat theme, a couple of coats of Krylon Fusion Satin Black (only because everyone was out of stock of Flat Black) they are drying now, so in another hour or so i'll go install them.
