I had some drama with my eyes

...Well, one of them. I suffered a retinal detachment, which wasn't as fun as it sounds.

I wrote about it here:

Wow. Glad you pulled through relatively unscathed.

I went through that same type of panic after my back injury. When it first happened, I just had some pain in my leg and found it hard to move about. Wake up the next day and I can barely move without the feeling of what felt like a sword being shoved through my lower back, and a total loss of feeling in my right leg.

The human mind is a jerk. It makes you instantly start thinking of every worse possible outcome. "I am paralyzed!" "Your whole life is over!" etc.

Don't forget to tell your wife that she is amazing. I would say she deserves a nice night out, or whip her up your best dish and make it all about her for just one evening. I would say she definitely earned it!

Anyway, here is to a speedy recovery and hopefully no more "eyeballs falling out of your head" moments.

...but in hindsight (ho ho ho)

Ha! Your sense of humour is firmly intact, at least as much as your retina. Excellent blog and guidance; thanks for sharing.

Perfect timing on the thread. I go in for cataract surgery tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be as much "fun" as a retinal detachment.

She was great. It could have been extremely difficult. It does help that she's a nurse as well, so she's at least got the care side down without even thinking.

Wow! that's crazy. Hope all goes well. Being diabetic I have to get my eyes check regularly to make sure I don't have that same problem.

MegaDan, I hurt my back a little over 18 years ago. I was paralyzed from the waist down for about a month and was laid up for 6 months. I had surgery and with lots of therapy was lucky to be walking again. That some scary stuff. It was hard going from working and always doing something to not being able to do for yourself.
