Engine bolt upgrade checklist?
I've been searching for the list of engine bolts diameter and length and didn't find it. Found a few threads, but I was thinking someone wrote an exact list of the bolts they bought from ACE that fit without needing any mods?
Anyone have a list? This would be for a Lifan GY-5. Thanks! |

Teamcheap has that info. I used 3/8" grade 8 hardwarde and a 7/16" for the one down by the pegs. I still have the original long bolt in there.
I have to drill alittle bit to get things lined up, but it sure made a difference. Just measure the lengths of the stock bolts and get the closest in inches. Allen

So 3/8 and 7/16 will do them all?
Thanks! |

I used 3/8"x4" I think for the upper bolts and I don't remember the length on the longer 7/16" bolt that is down by the pegs. I had to drill the engine case alittle to clear the new bolts. If you drill them the mounting holes and engine holes are almost the same size.

Gotcha. So a 3/8 and 7/16 dewalt bits should be enough to help straighten out the holes, eh?
I used the hi temp silcone last year around my bolts to cheaply diagnose if that's where my bad 5-6k vibes were coming from, and they were. It made a huge difference then and thru the winter, but yesterday when it warmed, the vibes were coming back. Time to do the bolts. |

Yep. That should do it. I would start with the lower 7/16" bolt and get that one set first. Then do the rest.

I still use that stock one on my wifes but on mine I made new brackets that I welded right to the frame so I could use the same size bolt as on the rear bottom.
You can find bolts like that if you look around but they are not at your local hardware stores more like a fastener supply or the net. I will be changing her bike engine brackets very soon also since I feel those long bolts are about worthless. |

I still have the stock long bolt in there. Some people have sourced them from fastener suppliers, but it is difficult to find. Fastenal for instance could order you an entire box.

TeamCheaps list is probably the best...
On my gy5, I ended up replacing the rear lower mount bolt with a stock Link-Belt (heavy equipment company) battery bolt, it fit snugger then the original, it was still slightly loose, but nothing like stock, and I just had to cut about a half inch off the end.
