You're right sprite, I don't have the side bags on. So, it'll be more work to remove the tail section.
Before you go to all that trouble ... take off the seats and the electrical panel.Then look inside the tail section and find the turn signal bolts. You'll be able to see them, but maybe you can also find a way to remove the nuts without undoing all the luggage and tail end. I was able to get a wrench on them but I had no room to turn the nut. If you can figure out a way, you can avoid a lot of work.
