Just asking cuz mine was pretty far off. About a 1/4 inch off. The existing holes are 5/16 and I drilled them out to 7/16 and it still wouldn't go on. Ended up having to do some real modifying.

I would say mine was about 1/4 inch off as well. I shaved ~1/8 each off each side. I didn't want to take off to much so half the time I did it in was spent checking to see if it fit. I killed a carbide cutting blade as well since I was very impatient.

What is a good replacement CDI? I want to get a spare to have and also to rule out that mine isn't bad. I get wierd cutouts for a fraction of a second at high RPM. It isn't the rev limiter, at least I don't think so since the engine isn't screaming just high RPM's and it goes higher even after the cutouts.
I am still tuning the carb so could be the carb but figured the CDI is cheap enough and with the electrical issues I had when I got the bike(Bad blinker module, Fuses kept popping) might have damaged the CDI as well. |

I replaced the Mikuni needle with the stock one, Shimmed it to about the same length. I still am getting the cutouts at high RPMS. I pulled the plug and it looks like this.

Did you do a plug chop at high RPM?

yes, I cut the engine and let it coast to a stop then pulled the plug. Pictures are above. I looked at some pictures online and I can't tell what the plug looks like. Almost looks ok but I am not sure I am reading it right.

I tried to click on the image to get a better look, but ads came up that told me how to lose belly fat. Kind of hurt my feelings.

Does that mean WOT? If so, the needle height isn't the issue, as much as main jet size. What size are you running? Maybe it's a tad too big.

I am running a 115 main but only a 20 pilot. I have more pilot jets coming in.
I have a new exhaust and pod filter on it. So should be pretty free flowing. The cutouts happen at 1/2 to WOT, They are intermittent though. Seems to get worse as the engine gets warmer. |

Ok, where exactly is the clip on the needle?

I bent the Mikuni needle :( in case that was the issue I put the stock needed in and shimmed it to about the same height as the second clip from the bottom.
The cut outs are what is confusing me. It feels like the bike just dies. Making me think no spark. If it was running lean like it was when I got it power just kinda goes away, This is like a cliff. I am new to doing this though so maybe I am not understanding carb's. |
