I dropped about 12 pounds just replacing the exhaust system. My Yamaha swingarm, shock absorber, and rear wheel provide an excellent suspension.

Well I think I have the rear supsension sorted out. Looking through my stock shocks and noticed a 12" eye to eye shock off of my CB500X. Fits perfectly and allows for preload adjustment plus a bit more travel on the shock body. Will take for a spin later to see if my bottoming out is cured.
Also mounted my Dirt Bagz saddlebag frame off of my CRF250L. A simple fabbed "L" bracket attached to the rear rack plate and it fit like it was made for it. Threw the Andy Strapz, Wolfman Enduro tank bag, Wolfman tank panniers and my GL Tillamook bag and I'm set for SA luggage wise. 128 Liters total!
I give you my CMW F230GS

DAMN! that looks like a bike built by someone who knows what he's doing! Love the soft luggage placement, no interference with your legs and high enough and back far enough to be out of your way if you have to duckwalk some dicey terrain

Whose tank setup is that? oh wolfman eh?

One recommendation, you look to have room to strap on a helinox camp chair. i bought one for a trip and now its a fixture i take EVERYwhere there is even the remotist chance i might want to stop and just witness the world doing its thing. weighs next to nothing and more comfortable than a lot of lazyboy type recliners strap it sideways across the rear of your seat.
one last thing, take a look at the leatherman crunch. pocket tool that becomes a set of locking vicegrips in addition to the usual screwdrivers, files and wrenches. can double as an emergency gearshifter, brake/clutch lever, and even iron knuckles if you get into a not so friendly looking situation palm it out of a pocket on your strong side and you can hit like Tyson.

I haven't even ordered my Hawk, and, mentally, I think I will be ready for the Baja part of the trip, then I see your bike, and I think "uh, I am not going to be half ready"

Are you happy with the way the Wolfman Enduro tank bag fits or would you recommend I consider something else?

I'm cannibalizing parts off of other bikes. IMO the Hawk really doesn't need a wind screen but this screen does lift the air up to helmet level and it does a great job of deflecting rain off of my riding jacket.

It fits very well although a little small for a long trip, hence the tank panniers. I tried to fit my Wolfman Expedition tank bag on the bike but the footprint was to large and the bag had a tendency to move around a lot. The smaller Enduro bag is rock solid,

Like always I'm probably taking more than I need.

Hey Seer,
I have a $100 credit at REI and a lightweight portable camp chair is on the short list. I'm leaning towards the Alite. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll take a look at the Helinox.

HEY! thats a NICE looking chair you got pictured ! one prob w the helinox are the small diameter contact points which let you sink into soft ground. maybe the one you have pictured with the horizontal tubes on the ground would solve that issue. otherwise, looks like the same design concept
