Possibly problem
So I raised the back of my sons ATV of the ground and was inspecting stuff after about an hour of riding.. My question is should there be play where the rim and drive shaft connect front to back? (not side to side).

I believe some front/back play is required for the travel of the suspension. Side to side play would indicate wear and should be looked at.
If you want to be on the safe side, test the play with the shocks fully compressed and again with them fully extended. As long as the shaft doesn't fall out it should be good. If anyone else can confirm that would be awesome. Never can be to careful when it comes to your kids, No matter how much they tell you there fine. |

Just to clairfy standing behind the atv with the back of it off the ground. There is play front to back between axle and rim.
